After drumming for the past 20 years in the Big Apple, Marcus is excited to be back in Germany. As a 16 year old, Marcus started drumming in Frankfurt’s live-music clubs, Irish pubs, and clubs on US Army bases.

After moving to New York in 1998, Marcus was active in NYC’s vibrant East Village jazz and singer-songwriter scene while living 2 years “illegally” in a windowless back room of a drum shop. Marcus soon played with a variety of critically acclaimed jazz ensembles plus in a variety of commercially successful bands and artists such as Blue Man Group, Chubby Checker (“The Twist”), Steve Borgovini (Fun Lovin’ Criminals) etc.

Getting deeper involved with Blue Man Group and drumming on commercials for General Motors and Anheuser Busch, Marcus began splurging on a “real” apartment in Brooklyn – this time an apartment with windows and with pop-jazz artist Norah Jones as neighbor.

Known for his versatility, Marcus tends to instantaneously pull from his various musical experiences and from drum lessons with Bernard “Pretty” Purdie.

In 2018, Marcus relocated back to Germany, where he joined a a variety of bands (e.g. The Takanaka Club Band, Catalina and Friends Band, Stereoluxx, Love De Luxe etc.) with whom he is keen to play in the widest possible range of styles.
